Mint Mushrooms

Mint Mushroom is a simple and delicious savory dish which can be prepared in minutes. Mushroom caps are sautèed in mild spices and filling is made with mushroom stalks that are flavored strongly with mint leaves, Tamarind and onion-tomato mixture. We can prepare filling using minced meat or tofu or vegetables with mushroom stalks. It completely depends on choice. It can be paired with any type of flavored bread.


  • 6-8 Button Mushrooms
  • Oil Spray
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Chili Flakes
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 1 medium Onion; Chopped
  • 1 medium Tomato; Chopped
  • ¼ Cup Mint leaves; Chopped
  • 1 tsp Green Chili Paste
  • 1 tsp Garlic ; Minced
  • ½ tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Tamarind pulp
  • 1 tbsp Curd
  • Fresh Coriander leaves; to garnish
  • Fresh Onion ; to garnish


  • Wash mushrooms properly; soak for 2 minutes in warm water and rinse.
  • Remove stalk from mushrooms, chop mushroom stalks and keep aside.
  • Drain excess water from mushroom caps by placing them inverted on kitchen paper.
  • Spray oil in a pan, arrange mushroom caps on it. Again spray oil on inverted mushrooms.
  • Sprinkle salt, black pepper, Chili flakes and Garam masala evenly on mushrooms. Cover cook for 2 minutes on medium heat.
  • Flip mushrooms and cover cook for a minute. Turn the heat to highest for few seconds to evaporate excess water. Turn off the heat.
  • Sprinkle lemon juice evenly on mushrooms. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in another pan, sauté onions, garlic and chopped mushroom stalks on medium heat till golden brown.
  • Add Green chili paste, Tomatoes, Mint leaves, Tamarind pulp, Turmeric and Salt. Mix well and Cover cook for 5-10 minutes. Stir in intervals.
  • Turn off the heat. Pour curd over the mixture and mix well.
  • Fill 1 tbsp of the mixture into each mushroom cap.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and onion. Serve hot !
